2016 Mystery Fig Tree Sampler

As I write this, I should be finishing up the binding on this lovely 2016 project. My Instagram friends urged me to finish up the binding so that I could consider it a February finish and that is just the cheering section I need right about now to get this one done! UPDATE: BINDING DONE [see last photo] !! Sometimes I absolutely love binding and sometimes… well sometimes not so much [usually depending on what else I have to do at the same time]! These annual samplers have surely become my favorite projects of all time. The one from 2015 was based a little bit more around a sherbet palette with navy as the darkest element [I will share some comparison photos in a few days]. This sampler from 2016 went a bit more retro and was based around my Farmhouse and Strawberry Fields collections and used a chalkboard black…

Teaching Adventures

Hello my Quilty Friends! Its been a while since I have blogged and I sooooo want to get back into a better habit of doing this because it really is a place where I can share so much more than I am able to do on Instagram, which is where I am most of the time these days. Why? Because it is SO MUCH EASIER for me and with the totally insane schedule I seem to keep, EASIER is sometimes the only way it will happen!  I would love it if you would join me there if you haven't already. I am figtreeandco !! Anyway, I have been getting A LOT of questions and requests lately for teaching and folks wondering why I don't seem to be doing it so much anymore. Well….. traveling to teach takes a lot of time and energy and frankly…

Peppermint Bark with My Kids!

This is a project that I do with my daughter for winter break… not even necessarily Christmas but any time in the winter. It is the most simple idea and any age kids can do it! We break ours up and put them in mason jars for teacher and neighbor gifts. So simple and so fun to make!     Ingredients:2 packages semisweet or dark chocolate chips 2 packages white chocolate chips 2 tsp. peppermint extract- 1 tsp. for each chocolate [more or less if you want it more or less minty] a handful of candy canes or peppermint candies crushed [put candy in a ziploc bag and crush with mallet. Don't turn it into dust… you want some nicer chunks]             Instructions: Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Melt the semisweet chocolate in the microwave…

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from our Home to Yours!   The week and days before Christmas always disappear like a complete blur around here and I always find myself wishing I could slow it all down and take it in more. But since that is a bit unlikely to happen today as we are almost ready to sit down to our traditional Polish Christmas Eve meal…. I thought I would just share a few snippets of our home and send them to yours. Hoping and praying that each and everyone of you has at least a few moments of joy, peace, family and love this season. From our Figueroa family to all of you…. Merry Christmas and Wesolych Swiat! Joanna, Eric, Benjamin, Zachary, Ella and Emma the dog…

Poinsetta Flour Sack Towels

Hello Everyone! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I am still recovering from the 12 DAYS SALE around here… and I definitely mean "ing" in that I'm definitely not done recovering! Yes, there has been  A LOT of couch time this weekend… A LOT! Although the one that we managed to accomplish is that my house is now decorated!! I am so excited. Christmas kind of explodes at our house each year and I can't wait to share some photos with you… hoping for tomorrow! But today I have a little gift for you! I know, I know… you might be saying to yourself, again with the flour sack towels! But seriously they are affordable, quick and fun projects that we just can't resist around here. You know when people say that a project can be made in…

THANK YOU and Some Info!

THANK YOU FOR JOINING US THIS YEAR     FOR THE 6TH ANNUAL 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS SALE!! I just wanted to send another quick thank you to all of you who followed along and/or participated in this year's sale! Each year since we started this insane sale we think about whether or not to continue it… both because it is such a crazy amount of work and because we know that each year a few people will be sad and some mad, because they haven't gotten what they hoped for. But each year, we weigh how many people participate and have fun, how many of you get all of your stocking stuffers doing this sale, how many people enjoy the excitement and anticipation of the "hunt" and how many of you have fun following along even if you don't…
