MODA BLOCKHEADS 5: GROUP 2 – WEEK 10

This week’s designer is Alexia Marcelle Abegg of Ruby Star Society, and her block is called 16-PATCH STAR. In case her name sounds familiar to you here on the Fig Tree Blog, it’s because she was featured in the American Patchwork & Quilting February 2024 issue as my conversation partner on the “Modern vs. Traditional” interpretations of quilting [more on that in THIS BLOG POST]. We both took on the LOG CABIN block and just finished a sew along in our FACEBOOK GROUP! OUR BLOCK #10: 16-PATCH STAR (6″ Finished) &#8230…

ST. PATRICK’S DAY FREEBIE: LUCKY SHAMROCK

Happy March, everyone. We’ve got a *FREEBIE* to share with you today! Be sure to grab the downloadable pattern sheet [link below] and keep scrolling for LOTS of setting options and styles to choose…

PATTERN SHOWCASE: DENIM PATCHWORK TOTE

The moment I designed the “cheater cloth” PATCHWORK as a part of my DENIM & DAISIES collection, I envisioned bags, purses, tote bags and all the things! The denim one is a variety of all blues, whereas the ivory one has tangerines and oranges scattered throughout…they are both soooo good! It is the perfect fabric to use for this bag as it looks like you have pieced the whole bag when in…

MODA BLOCKHEADS 5: GROUP 2 – WEEK 9

This week’s designer is Deb Strain and her block is the classic OHIO STAR. OUR BLOCK #9: OHIO STAR (6″ Finished) …… PIECING INSTRUCTIONS: If you’ve been following along on my MBH5 journey, you know I don’t prefer to piece my QST [hourglass] units as depicted in the Moda Pattern Sheet, as it creates bias along the edges. See my Group 1, Week 2 BLOG POST for specific instructions – and a handy diagram – on how I create my QST variations. Eliminate cutting for [B] and [C]. Instead… For a…
