New Yummies!

I am in Kansas. Crazy, I know! Teaching and lecturing about color and design to some fabulous quilters and fabric lovers. I love our customers. They are generous and committed and make this business so much fun! Oh and by the way, don't even think about the Dorothy and Toto jokes. My hub is emailing them to me on a regular basis throughout the day! At least he is entertaining himself while I am gone! ButI digress. I promised to let you know as soon as we had some new bundle lovelies up….. well, we might have one or two or three all lined up and ready for new homes..   INTRODUCING "BEACH" BELLA SOLID BUNDLES. …Oh my gosh, just makes me want to go to the beach right now! For more info click here.   And we have made more of the original…

A little project. Very little.

In case you don't already know, I am in the midst of the final months of a new book manuscript. How could you not know? I feel like I have been going on about finishing it for months now, boring you all to death! But just in case you hadn't known, there it is. As a result of the book and of the fact that it is the middle of summer, my life feels like a whirlwind of chapters, time at the pool with the kids, illustrations, kids wanting snacks, photo shoots, kid's coming home from camp wanting more snacks, more writing and then dirty, happy kids wanting more food before they play whiffle ball in the front yard with every single neighborhood kid they can scare up. Oh yeah, and they want snacks for that too. In fact, I looked out the window…

Jar ‘O’ Strawberries

Lately we have been eating a lot of these. And a lot of pretty much any other kind of berry out there. There is just something about berries that means summer to me, doesn't it? Especially summer at the river. With a lot of kids nonetheless. We've certainly been having a lot of kids and a lot of berries! All of this berry eating reminded me of some lovely little jars that we had made up for a special event a while back and that we had a couple dozen leftover. I have been enjoying them all in a sweet little stack in the shipping office but thought it might be time to share the goodies. Thought I would offer them to you guys just in case you weren't getting your fair share of strawberries lately…   … kit comes in this jar…

Sit Upons for Summer

Today we have bundled up some wonderful little Sit Upon kits. Available with and without the amazing I-TOP button maker [I really recommend the I-TOP for easy as pie button making. See this post]. Kits include all the fabric and buttons you need for one Sit Upon- perfect for your office chair, to take to soccer games this summer or as many of customers have pointed out, perfect to take to quilt class with you. Personally we will be whipping up a few more of these bad boys for summer porch lounging! You can of course stretch your charm pack and use it only on the front of the pillow and get two out of one charm pack! You would however need some more buttons for that.   We will have these while the charm packs last. Click here for more info.   Here's to summer…

Summertime…

Well, its officially the beginning of summer vacation around these here Fig parts and although the Mama has lots of deadlines, nobody else seems to! So, we have been doing a whole lot of this…. and a bit of this… … how much do you think I paid them to pose for me like that LOL!! I am sure that one of them slugged the other right after this shot.   So we've been eating way more than our fair share of these… Which really just makes me want to sew with that apricoty, orange, melon feeling color! Man, there's just nothing that beats it!! – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – A special thank you goes out to all of you who emailed, tweeted…

Introducing Scrap Lab

Its so much fun to play with scraps or small pieces of fabric that you aren't quite sure what you want to do with, isn't it? I think we all find ourselves in that spot once in a while and sometimes get stuck as to how to best use those pieces. It's so much more fun to work on it with friends, or with the inspiration of others don't you think? And its even better when you get to follow along with what others are doing with the same exact scraps. Usually, seeing what others do, sparks your own creative juices, doesn't it? It really never ceases to amaze me when a couple of designers or quilters come together with the same exact materials and walk away with projects that are so vastly different from one another that you…

Poking my head out… or in….

Yes, its that time of the year again. The time when all us designer type folks seem to disappear into our caves and come out only for food and water!, or maybe coffee or soda! I realized the other day that I hadn't been on twitter or the web, a place that is sometimes my only interaction with the outside world other than my family, for 5 days! Not a good sign for keeping up with the world, good sign for getting work done and meeting all my deadlines. We are almost done designing over here in this particular Northern California cave although we are still waiting for our advance yardage to arrive so the sewing insanity is yet to start! We are hoping for sometime next week. As usual, we're cutting it pretty close but that's just how we roll around here! BTW…

“Kiss Me”

I am quite certain that I have said this before and I will surely say it again, but almost every time we release a new set of patterns, I have a favorite. I feel like I shouldn't have one, but I do. Almost from the instant we start sewing the blocks together or the pieces get cut out for the bag, I just know. This will be my favorite this time around. A lot of the times its about the color choices in a particular project but sometimes its about the design or the way that I am feeling when I design it. This was one of those quilts. From the moment I started playing with those reds and greys, and hints of yellow, green and pink in the florals, somehow I knew it would be one of my all-time favorites. And it is. So far. &#0160…
