Introducing Sparkles & Cream BOM for 2021

Join us for our newest adventure…. SPARKLES & CREAM BLOCK OF THE MONTH 2021… keep reading for all the info below! Our first low volume CREAM SPARKLE QUILT a few years ago was such an amazingly fun project and a runaway hit with our customers, that we have decided to do it all again… but with a slightly different fabric twist!! THIS IS A COMPLETELY NEW & DIFFERENT PATTERN FROM THE ORIGINAL CREAM SPARKLE! So if you enjoyed the original CREAM SPARKLE, I think that this would make the best companion project ever! HERE IS THE STORY…We loved our CREAM SPARKLE project, as did so many of you and it was certainly a fabulous one… working with all of those soft cream and ivory prints was a dream. But once in a while especially during the assembly I wished there was just a tiny…

Week #32: Alternate Block “The Posie Bloom”

Welcome to Week #32 of the MODA BLOCKHEADS SEW ALONG! Today I’m adding another fun alternate block to our weekly MODA BLOCKHEADS SEW ALONG. It is called The Posie Bloom! This week we are back around to Jan Patek with her fabulous primitive styled applique. If you are an applique fan, check out her lovely applique block through her link HERE and download the pattern directions for her sweet beehive. If applique just isn’t your thing or you just don’t have the time or energy to work on a technique that is not “in your wheel house”… we have once again whipped up a cute little alternate block this week! It is a sister block to our first flower block, Tulip Bloom, a few rounds back. We decided to make a “sister” block to our first one for two…

Folk Flowers Quilt Story

Finding vintage quilt treasures is one of those things that many of us quilters dream of, right? Searching through piles of textiles at flea markets, rummaging around antique malls, making a discovery at a local estate sale… you never know where you might find a treasure… am I right? Well, at least that has always been true for me. There is something about the hunt and the discovery that I just love, its all about the process! For me the love affair with vintage quilts started before I was even a quilter, the year I got married. But that is a story for another day. But let’s get back to this quilt! This year in January, I went on a little quilting adventure with a few Fig Tree friends to Road to California and visited one of my long time favorite vintage quilt friends, Cindy&#8217…

MODA Blockheads: Block #31

Welcome to Week #31 of the MODA BLOCKHEADS SEW ALONG! Hello Blockhead friends. How are you guys all doing on this fabulous blockheads Wednesday? Today we are back with the sweet and lovely Betsy. Check out the directions for her block, BASKET COLLECTOR, HERE this week. And here is our version that we changed up a bit… For our version, we went with the 6″ version and changed the instructions a bit in order to make the center of the basket one single piece. Here is what we did: Instead of piecing A-D-A for the center, like in the pattern, we cut a larger “F” piece and added that in instead of the A-D-A piece. For the 4″: Cut (1) 2 7/8″ square and cut in 1/2 on the diagonal. For the 6″: Cut (1) 3 7…

Introducing… Pumpkins In A Row

We are smitten with our newest pattern addition! So happy to introduce you guys to our newest pattern… Pumpkins in a Row. The latest addition to our growing “charm pack” quilt projects [among others, they include Pumpkin Trio, Oh Christmas Tree, Daisies and Butterflies], Pumpkins in a Row is such a fun way to use a charm pack of our All Hallows Eve collection or any other favorite Halloween grouping that has a mix of oranges, greys and blacks. WHAT YOU WILL NEED: With one charm pack you can make all of the pumpkins, the steams and the little scrappy cream border. You need to add some of our favorite ivory solid for the background [available in the shop anytime], an orange print for the inner border, a group of any of your favorite oranges for the prairie points and a cream print for the outer border…

So let’s do a bit of recap… These are all of our blocks for ROUND II… OUR TOTALS: (1) 12″, (3) 8″ (7) 6″ and a few tiny houses that we are keeping separate for now&#8230…

Halloween Harlequin

PATTERN SHOWCASE One of my favorite new Halloween patterns this year is our Halloween Harlequin pattern. A fabulous way to use a Layer Cake and work on a quilt that looks like it has templates… without actually having any! Over the years I have been drawn to many quilts that were all made from small and complicated templates and so I just admired them from afar. Templates are just not for me. I think I am too impatient and like to see immediate progress.. strip piecing is much more my style :-). But once in awhile I have decided to figure out how to get that special shape without a template and this is one of those projects. To see all of our HALLOWEEN projects, come on over HERE. First we did it with a Halloween palette… And then loved it so much that we decided to feature it…
