Anatomy of Sample Spree

For those of you who have been coming to or following along with Market updates for years, this is old hat and old news to you. But for those of you who are just a bit newer to this phenomenon known as Quilt Market, Sample Spree is THE place to be the night before Market opens if you are a fabric store. Hundreds of store owners and fabric buyers line up outside the ballroom conference center, the line goes outside and around the building. This time around, the line wove out toward the river…. Everyone is trying to get into the limited ticketed availability of Sample Spree where fabric companies and others set up tables to sell exclusive bundles and precuts of their fabrics and other patterns.  It goes something like this. 1. Fabric manufacturers setting up all of there sneak peek packs of precuts and bundles of…

More pattern sneak peeks…

Our Fig Tree Threads patterns are a newer part of our overall pattern line and we are having so much fun with them. Here are 2 of the 3 we released this time around… Bon Appetite — Okay , i have to admit that I just didn't get the whole fabric bowl thing until I decided to make these little charm pack friendly lettuce cup leaf bowls… so much fun to make and so quick to make for perfect little presents. I want to make more in various sizes when I get home! Little Picasso — a simple play smock made with squares & rectangles. No fancy patterns here. Just real simple sewing. My daughter was so happy to model for me. She can't wait until the models come back from the show so she can play in them…. Talk to you soon…

New Pattern Debuts…

Well I am here in Pittsburgh, getting ready for Spring Market. Making the rounds of my favorite prop shops- otherwise known as Home Depot, Target, IKEA, etc…. I thought I would start off a little show n tell of what the shops are going to be seeing in the next few days. If all goes according to plan, i hope to get a new post out to you all every day while I am here with new pattern debuts. If things go better than planned, I might actually get some pictures of Market out to you… but if not we will rely on those wonderful gals like Pam, who will certainly be doing it better than I will! So today is more of a tease pic more than a sneak peek. This is the front of our new summer catalog and the image of a few our new…

Creme Fraiche

Creme Fraiche is our new large format applique project… I know I am branching out into pink!  But its not really pink, its more of a soft, peachy apricot kind of pink and it has grown on me over the years. This entire quilt was inspired by a bathroom rug of all things. I know, I know, inspiration comes from the strangest places sometimes! You just have to be ready for it when it comes…. Above is the actual pattern cover, but here below is a larger scale shot of the second color version on the pattern. Easily my favorite!  Perfect for Christmas, for traditional quilters who love all red, white and green quilts or for anyone who enjoys this classic look.  I am very excited to use this quilt in my home. Thank you so much Diana for offering to piece it, applique it…
