This week’s designer is the lovely Robin Pickens [who I had the pleasure of seeing this past weekend during FALL QUILT MARKET] and her block is called COMMUNITY STAR! Be sure to check out her BLOG, where I’m certain she will have all the details and tips on her lovely block.
A 12″ block it is! We had fun this week playing with backgrounds to create some added interest to the white/background space.
We decided to make our stars with a green center and red star points, but if you want a more ‘defined’ star look throughout your block, you may opt to do red centers/red points and/or green centers/green points and vary the hue of the prints instead.
Choosing placement of fabrics and prints is probably my favorite part of this sew along! You can get so many different looks, depending on how YOU view the block!
SURPRISE! No alternate piecing this week; we followed the pattern to a T. 😉
However, if you’d like to create the UNIT 1 and UNIT 2 corner units with (2) varying background prints as we did, cut the following:
Red Mosaic: CHRISTMAS STITCHED
Green Solid
Green Ditsy Floral: FARMHOUSE II
Green Pinecones: CHRISTMAS STITCHED
Cream Star: STITCHED
Cream/Red Eyelet: EYELET BASICS
Ivory Solid
