My latest fabric collection, MAGPIE, was just announced at the H+H Americas Trade Show in Houston at the beginning of this month (shipping June 2027). If you’d like a closer look at some of the fabrics from my MAGPIE collection, be sure to visit the FIG TREE & CO. YOUTUBE CHANNEL and watch our latest VIDEO SHORT.
And with new fabric comes new patterns! Throughout the next few weeks, we will be showcasing the MAGPIE coordinating patterns right here on the blog and over on my INSTAGRAM PAGE, as well.
The best part? They are available NOW! To get us started, let’s welcome HYACINTH…
……
Creating flower quilt blocks has always been one of my favorite design puzzles. It requires both time in the garden as well as time with my graph paper…both activities that bring me great joy and satisfaction. When my tiny little Grape Hyacinth plant unexpectedly re-bloomed this year, I knew it was time to create a quilted version of the charming little blooms.
Each Hyacinth quilt block is its own little masterpiece and even though there are a few SEW & FLIPs in each one…I do think they are well worth the final result!

For each of our Hyacinth Blooms we used (2) prints of a single color. The first print should be stronger, more saturated and the second print should be a bit lighter, with more white in the print so that they look like two tones of the same color. Choosing good pairs will ensure that your Hyacinth petals stand out from one another.

Follow our rainbow color choices, or completely change it up by choosing a variety of purple prints, for example, for Hyacinths that more closely resemble the actual flower as seen in nature.

Also note that you are making two blocks, Block A and Block B, each turned in different directions. Both blocks also have two leaf variations. Pay attention to how you are assembling each one and you will create your Hyacinth garden in no time at all!

……
We made (2) versions of the HYACINTH quilt, one with (16) total blocks in a 4×4 layout and a second version with just (9) blocks in a 3×3 grid.
