PECAN BLOSSOMS

The first of my AGATHA ROAD accompanying patterns, PECAN BLOSSOMS, definitely has my heart and will go down as one of my all time favorite design creations. Once in a while a pattern will feel so unique and so very much “me” and this is definitely one of them.

Its definitely a blend of inspiration sources for me but based firmly in my newly found admiration of cross stitch. As I researched and perused hundreds of examples, I was once again completely drawn in by the wonderful images in vintage cross stitch samplers [I do see a trend happening in my design brain]! Quickly this block took shape in my imagination and focused on the acorn-styled blossom at the four corners. The rest of the design came from that.

I envisioned it first on a classic cream background, but soon starting imagining what the block would look like on a dark charcoal background, or even in a completely different color scheme.

The fabulous quilting on this quilt just makes my heart beat a little bit faster when I look at it. Look at those details by the amazing Diana Johnson.

And this dark 4 BLOCK version, perfectly complimented by Marion’s pumpkin seed all-over design really helps to give this version a slightly more modern feel in my opinion.

MORE INFO ABOUT THE MODA BOXED KIT

Every MODA fabric release, a few patterns are chosen to include in their fabulous specialty boxed kit series. Over the years I have had 4 or 5 different quilts in the boxes, and I love to collect them. Yes… I do collect my own kit in the box even though I have already made the quilt. I know it might seem silly, but it is a lovely way to remember specific collections and to enjoy the box collection with the coordinating design.

Each kit Includes all the fabric you will need for the pattern, from the AGATHA ROAD fabric collection, to make the PECAN BLOSSOMS quilt as shown below.
