ACORN GARLAND & COASTERS – FREE PATTERN

This cute ACORN GARLAND AND COASTER SET pattern was something I created for Moda Fabrics to accompany my CINNAMON & CREAM fabric collection. I know so many of you all made them the year we released the fabrics but the acorns can be made with any grouping of autumnal fabrics!

The fabric collection itself is a definite nod to Autumn (as if you don’t already know), my favorite time of year. The air is crisp, leaves are falling, it’s soup and sweater weather, and the colors are just so inspirational!

I know many of you have “squirreled away” [pun definitely intended] some CINNAMON & CREAM fabric, and all you really need is a MINI CHARM PACK [or any grouping of scraps really], plus 3 fat-eighths of any coordinating Bella Solids. This is 100% a perfect opportunity to shop your stash! Just find bits of cinnamon, caramel, butterscotch, and accents of corals, pinks, and green if you’d like to make yours with a similar feel to our sample.

Full Materials List:

  • 1 Cinnamon & Cream Mini Charm Pack (or any autumnal scraps)
  • 3 or more Fat Eighths (9″ x 22″) of coordinating Bella Solids, we recommend:
    • 9900 39 [Parchment]
    • 78 [Peach]
    • 104 [Hay]
    • 134 [Pistachio]
    • 147 [Coral]
    • 430 [Mink]
  • 1/4 yd. Fusible Fleece [Pellon 987F or batting scraps]
  • Ribbon or twine for loops and hanging*

*As for the ribbon, we do have some fabulous 1″ FIG TREE RIBBON in 3 wonderful colors: PEACH, RED, or GREEN. If you happen to have some, this would make a great alternative!

We have also made up some sets available HERE, as well.

One mini charm pack will make 5 acorns. They are super addictive, though, and you may soon find yourself with a much larger garland! 😉

You can grab the free PDF pattern HERE. It makes a fantastic weekend project, and you’ll have decor just in time for the start of the season!

Enjoy,

-Joanna

I purchased this kit at Patchwork Plus in Dayton, Virginia recently. Once a month I do a quilting project with the residents of The Hamilton Assisted Living in Yorktown. They designed some acorns and I made a garland to hang in their dining area. Thank you for the idea and pattern.
