MILK & BLOSSOMS SEW ALONG

We are just wrapping up a MILK & BLOSSOMS SEW ALONG in our FACEBOOK GROUP. I thought I’d take a moment to do a recap here on the blog for future reference – in case you aren’t a Facebook fan or prefer all the notes in one spot. 🙂

MILK & BLOSSOMS is just one of those patterns…it looks great in SO many different colorways, and that may be why it received a pattern “upgrade/redo” with the arrival of my most recent fabric collection ROSIE.

SCHEDULE

Although we are nearing the end of our sew along in the group, you can always feel free to sew at your own pace! We will cheer you on ANYTIME.

QUILT PATTERN

Patterns are available in the Fig Tree Shop via PAPER or DOWNLOADABLE PDF.

MINI WALL HANGING FREEBIE

In case you missed it, I am offering a (1) block mini wall hanging finishing pattern right here on the blog. Check out THIS BLOG POST for the details. NOTE: You will still need to purchase the MILK & BLOSSOMS quilt pattern for block assembly. This is for the scallop borders and finishing only.

I made a few mock-up color variations…the overwhelming response to favorites are the BLUE background and the SUMMERTIME version, which are the first two show below.

TIPS, TRICKS, AND HINTS

  • Regardless of whether you have the CLASSIC version of the pattern or the new ROSIE version, there isn’t a lot of difference between the two.
    • The CLASSIC version [featuring CHANTILLY fabrics] does have an additional (15) pitcher block assembly instructions in the back of the pattern in addition to the standard (12) block version you see on the cover. The CLASSIC version is only available in DOWNLOADABLE PDF at this time.
  • If you would like an additional option for your flower top, I have made an ALTERNATE TULIP AND STEM FREE PATTERN available HERE. Just simply follow the free downloadable PDF for instructions on changing your flower blooms to tulips instead!
  • There are a lot of SEW & FLIP corners for the flower and stem units. If you need a refresher, visit THIS BLOG POST for further details and a video tutorial.
  • Regarding the pitcher blocks, they are actually really simple and fun to construct even if you have never sewn with this kind of angle. Read through the whole process so you know what you are working with before you start. I think you will like it!
    • There is some small piecing, specifically with the pitcher handle. Take your time and be sure you sew with an accurate 1/4″ seam. Doing so will help all your units line up perfectly and construction will be easier and more enjoyable.

Happy Sewing!
