Like so many of you, I cannot wait for that time of year when all the orange and black decorates my home. All the ALL HALLOWS EVE quilts come out to play, and each year I am itching to add in a few more to my ever-growing collection. I love the moody vibe they create in the house!
For me, retro Halloween is all about soft, romantic prints and classic-feeling vibes. I don’t know about you, but orange is at the very top of my list of favorite colors, especially when it is paired with autumnal shades of greys, creams, and soft blacks. Seriously… orange is the best color especially during that time of the year. I even have a collection of vintage quilts in orange, butterscotch and cheddar colors that is always the star of the show during that time.
Halloween has always been about family, fun, trick or treating, and vintage Halloween decorations for me. So no ghosts, goblins, and scary things needed.
Each of my vintage Halloween collections have featured my signature soft orange, a variety of creams and greys and a charcoal black that feels faded and warm. This time around, the greys are even softer and warmer, almost a light taupe really and somehow that one small change completely alters the overall look of the whole collection! I have been calling AGATHA ROAD, the sister group to ALL HALLOWS EVE and I think that is a great way of thinking about her.
Reimagining Halloween decorating as something for any traditional, classic, or modern home is what these Fig Tree Halloween collections are all about. It’s all about the vibe, as my young adult kids would say!
And look at those new taupey greys in this group… I do believe we really need a special name for this color. Mushroom? Griege? Some of us around here call it “graupe” or “grope” just for fun even though that is not a color name that actually exists… I don’t think :-)? It really is a soft mix of several colors and fits right in there as a perfect neutral blender for all the other fall colors I think.
Join me as we celebrate my special brand of classic Halloween with AGATHA ROAD, coming July 2025! I have so much more to share with you all for this collection so stay tuned for that.
