Welcome to week ONE of our FAIRYTALE PUMPKINS sew along! This sew along will last 5 weeks, but remember: always work at your own pace! Susan from @thefeltedpear will be hosting over in our Facebook Group, so be sure to join us there, as well. We are an encouraging community!

If you are still trying to decide which of the versions of FAIRYTALE PUMPKINS you want to make, check out our previous blog post to read a bit more about the sampler (“day” AND “night” versions), table runner, and mini quilt.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Given all of the options and versions possible, I formatted the pattern a bit differently than normal. Please take some time to read over your pattern before diving in.
With that…here we go!
If you are making the “day”/”night” sampler, you will need to make the following variations:
If you are making the mini quilt OR the table runner, you will need to make the following variation:
My advice here is to cut your blocks week-by-week, and even possibly one-by-one, to avoid confusing your cut fabrics with each other. I will let you know that the SQUAT PUMPKIN blocks are the most “complex” in the whole quilt. We put these at the beginning, so if you need to break down the sew along schedule further – in the case of the sampler versions – you have that option.
Another tip, if you can, would be to work ahead on your square-in-a-square blocks for the diamond sashing between the pumpkin rows. Doing a little each week will make assembly smoother in week 4!
I’ll see you right back here for week 2 of our FAIRYTALE PUMPKINS SEW ALONG!
