MODA BLOCKHEADS 5: GROUP 2 – WEEK 11

This week’s designer is Stacy Iest Hsu and her block is called SHOOTING STARS. You can visit her blog HERE!

OUR BLOCK #11: SHOOTING STAR (6″ Finished)

……

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:

As you can see, we changed up our block this week! We used the 12″ cutting instructions to create a single 6″ star block. If you’d like to make a SHOOTING STAR like ours, follow the instructions below…

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Eliminate cutting for [A], [B], and [C].
  • (8) 1 1/2″ cream squares [D]
  • (2) 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ green rectangles [E]
  • (2) 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ red rectangles [F]
  • (1) 1 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ green rectangle [G]
  • (1) 1 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ red rectangle [H]
  • (4) 2 1/2″ cream squares [I]

PIECING INSTRUCTIONS

Follow the provided MODA Pattern Sheet with the following edits…

  • Step 1: Make (2) D/E units and (2) D/F units. Join to make (2) D/E/F units measuring 2 1/2″.
  • Step 2: Make (1) D/G unit and (1) D/H unit.
  • Step 3: Make (1) D/G/H unit measuring 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″.
  • Step 4: SKIP
  • Step 5: Follow, as is.
  • Step 6-8: SKIP

After STEP 5, simply add your partial star units to each side of your D/G/H unit as shown in the photos. VOILA! You have a new 6″ star block for your Blockheads setting!

I love this block but I need a 12 in finished measurements. Do you have them?

This is not our block. Please read through the info in the post and refer back to the designer whose block it is.
