This week’s designer is my quilty friend Lisa Bongean, the half-square triangle QUEEN, and her block is called ALL STARS. Be sure to check out her BLOG, where I’m certain she will have all the details and tips on her lovely block.
We chose a 6″ block size this week and created it using only 1/4 of the 12″ block – creating a single “friendship star” block! We are needing some 6″ options for our simple block setting [more info coming really soon… like maybe next week] and this seemed like the perfect little block for it. See below for more details…
If you are looking to create a 6″ block like ours this week, you will want to follow the cutting instructions/measurements for the 12″ block, but with less cut pieces.
Cut:
Follow the piecing instructions, creating (4) A/B HSTs and (4) B/C HSTs instead of (16) each. Continue onto step 2, and VOILA – you’ve got a beautiful block just like that!
Many of our BLOCKHEADS 5 blocks so far have the star feature in the red or green colorway, so we decided to mix it up a bit and let the background print do the “sparkling” this week.
