STEP 3: Flying Geese – as usual, I opt for the SEW & FLIP method. Eliminate written cutting instructions for [D] & [E]. Instead:
For a 6″ block, cut:
For a 12″ block, cut:

STEP 5 & 6: HSTs – the MODA pattern sheet shows the center unit as (4) HSTs sewn together. I’ll be honest here. I had a leftover hourglass unit (QST) when I was auditioning fabrics for a previous block. I thought…I can make that work!
The QST measures 3″ unfinished/2.5″ finished. Then:
For a 12″ block, cut:
Add a triangle unit to each side, press, then trim the block to measure 4.5″ unfinished. The points will “float” this way.
In any other instance, I would simply do these as written in the MODA pattern sheet.

Last week was a BREAK WEEK for us, so we wanted to make it up to you this week! 🙂
We pieced the Group 1 bonus block, AUTOGRAPH STAR, by Barbara Groves, too! We will be using this as a 6″ block for the front of our quilt.

This block was pieced as instructed in the MODA pattern sheet. The only difference? We used (2) fabrics each for [B] and [C] to add visual interest.
