REMIX: GATHERING BASKETS PATTERN + HEXIE PATCHWORK FABRIC

Well if this isn’t the most unexpected pairing [and the cutest thing all at the same time], I don’t know what is!

Read on to see how this idea came to be…

……

RUBY STAR FLOWER GARDEN HEXIE PRINT

Once in a while I fall in love with a fabric that is totally not my usual look and this time around, the FLOWER GARDEN HEXIE patchwork from RUBY STAR was the ticket!

Some of our quilty staff have made some really fun things with it, including napkins and placemats for their young adult kids, as a fun backing for a teenager quilt, pajamas, and more!

GATHERING BASKETS

Lacey [@laceypoirier] decided to take in one step further (as she usually does), and made the HEXIE PATCHWORK the centerpiece to the GATHERING BASKETS quilt pattern! How cool, right?!

Instead of making the Fall-inspired motif blocks on the center of the basket [see ORIGINAL quilt below], she decided to make the entire basket from one full piece of the patchwork print, and then grabbed a few EYELET BASICS from the SHOP that matched well to serve as the basket handles.

These are the exact EYELET BASICS colors she used [available in the SHOP – click the colors below for the shop listing]:

For background, she used our WHITE-ON-WHITE EYELET.

She’s decided to call this quilt SEWING BASKETS and I think it’s so very fitting. I can’t wait to see it all the way finished!

……

If you’d like to make a SEWING BASKETS quilt of your own, be sure to grab the HEXIE PATCHWORK PRINT yardage from the SHOP while it’s available – 1 yard should be enough to make the baskets, but you can also grab enough for a lovely backing!

Happy Sewing!
