VINTAGE SCRAPWORKS PATTERN… MADE WITH DENIM & DAISIES COTTONS + WOVENS

Inspired by a vintage antique find, the VINTAGE SCRAPWORKS PATTERN is our version of a “make do” patchwork, using favorite large florals, toweling stripes, linens and other favorite scraps of collected fabrics. Pretty much anything that we have that will add to the vintage “make do” feel of this quilt.

In our original version, we used actual toweling pieces that added a wonderful vintage feel to the overall quilt. We used these for the [k/n] pieces and used up scraps in other parts. For this DENIM & DAISIES version, we used large stripes and some plaids from the coordinating WOVENS collection to add that same feel to the project.

HINT: I recommend washing toweling prior to use to get a more used feel and even perhaps “tea staining” them if they are too white [more info on last page of pattern].

This quilt needs a large variety of 1/3 yd. cuts of large floral, stripes, small florals and geometrics. The more the better to add to the vintage and scrappy feel… seriously, there is no such thing as too many prints in this quilt. See pattern for a variety of fabric tips & suggestions.

You can of course ALSO keep going and make it bigger… add in some extra X or PLUS blocks or simply surround the outer layers with more patchwork blocks to make it the final size you want.

DENIM & DAISIES COLLECTION

The sky is the limit on the style you can create with this quilt, which is why we just HAD to make this up in our latest collection, DENIM & DAISIES, and the accompanying WOVEN COLLECTION in plaids, dobbies, ginghams, tickings, and zigzags. If you haven’t seen the wovens or FELT THE WOVENS, you really should try to find them locally… they are soft and squishy and perfect to add the cuddle factor to your quilt.

Prepping WOVENS to work with PRINTS? No problem in my experience. All I do is add a bit of spray starch to the woven to give it a bit more stability and that is it. If the plaids are woven slightly on the angle… don’t worry about it. In my opinion, that only adds to the homey, vintage vibe of this “make do” patchwork.
