PATTERN SHOWCASE: SHEEP & CLOVER

Imagine sheep grazing on rolling green hills, dotted with clumps of clover. Believe it or not, I walked on a Cotswolds public path just like this one & SHEEP & CLOVER was born in my head on that very walk!

I do believe a have a few photos of part of my walk, so scroll through to see them!!

Pattern is made with my favorite SEW & FLIP method, so no specialty rulers or techniques involved. Each sweet little block feels like its own little quilt! And as you can see, actually making just one of the sheep and turning it into a runner or a pillow is pretty darn cute, too.

Quilt Sizes:

  • Main Quilt: 65″ x 65 ½”
  • Mini Runner Quilt: 16 ½” x 32 ½”
    • Pieced and quilted by Susan Vaughan

Pattern available via DOWNLOADABLE PDF now, and in PAPER very soon – be sure to check back in the SHOP!

BONUS PRAIRIE POINT SHEEP PILLOW

We couldn’t quite help ourselves and decided we needed a cute sheep pillow, too! Honestly it’s almost too cute if that is a thing!

And by we, I mean Lacey [@laceypoirier] who pieced and quilted it for me!

In addition to the SHEEP & CLOVER pattern, you will also need to grab the CHRISTMAS JOY PILLOWS pattern. This pattern will help you with prairie point instructions and pillow finishing details!

TUTORIAL:

  1. On the bottom of Page 9 of the SHEEP & CLOVER pattern, prep as if you are going to make the MINI RUNNER by cutting and making (1) sheep block and (2) clover blocks.
  2. On Page 10 of the SHEEP & CLOVER pattern, you will ignore all cutting instructions EXCEPT [a] which is your sashing ivory print.
    • Follow Step 2 by joining your blocks with the sashing [a] as shown. Your pillow should now measure 11″ x 27″ unfinished.
    • From here, you will only need to add top and bottom borders to make it the appropriate size for the CHRISTMAS JOY PILLOW PATTERN finishing.
      • Cut (2) 2 1/2″ x 27″ T/B borders and attach. (Note: we were using up scarps from the limited advanced yardage of LARKSPUR so we made a patchwork border to those dimensions – feel free to do what you prefer!) Your pillow should now measure 15″ x 27″.
  3. Move to the CHRISTMAS JOY PILLOWS pattern, and turn to the bottom of Page 4 for prairie point instructions. You will need to cut (22) squares as directed on Page 2 under “From PRAIRIE POINT & BINDING PRINT”. Continue following Pages 5 and 6 for quilting, pillow backing, facing, and binding instructions.

Stay tuned for the rest of our LARKSPUR & LINEN PATTERN SHOWCASES throughout the next few weeks. We have so much more to share. And in case you just can’t wait, check out the Fig Tree & Co. YouTube Channel where I just finished filming a full quilt TRUNK SHOW! 😉

Happy Sewing,
