Sewcialites Sew Along: My Turn Today

There are so many fun sew-alongs happening online these days that sometimes its hard to keep them all straight. I guess its the one upside to the pandemic… let’s keep our hands and our minds busy at the machine I say!

If you want to keep up to date with a few other sew-alongs that we will be participating in for the upcoming weeks and months… follow us HERE on Instagram where I share pretty much every day! But back to today’s business…

The SEWCIALITES SEW ALONG is the brainchild of the lovely ladies over at the Fat Quarter Shop and so many of us designers are playing along. My design calendar has been a bit too full to participate each week by sewing blocks but I sure have been enjoying watching the quilt unfold! each week! So much fun sewing is going on!

So here is some more info on how it all works…

Today I wanted to share with you my first block in the SEW ALONG… it is called SOULFUL… I love the sound of that. It makes me think of the introspection that often comes with sewing for me. Sewing can often be soulful, don’t you think?

For our sample, we decided to go Christmas for our color scheme and get brave and make a few little blocks in the 3″ size… normally not a block measurement that I like to tackle [usually I like a bit more size to my blocks LOL] but these were so much fun to do in this tiny little size! I decided to change the colors up a little bit and even though I originally thought I would make a green block and a red block, I just couldn’t resist mixing the fabrics instead! I used a few of my favorite Christmas Figs fabrics for these.

And since we were a bit obsessed with these cute little things… we transformed them into two tiny little Christmas pincushions!

Don’t you think they would make some fun Christmas gifts?

In fact… go ahead and got to my INSTAGRAM page, follow me there and comment on the IG post and you will be entered to win one of these two pincushions- if you win, you can pick which one you prefer!! Good luck!
