STONEWASHED SUNSET BLOCK-OF-THE-MONTH FULL QUILT REVEAL
Our exclusive STONEWASHED SUNSET block-of-the-month (BOM) was our first ever DENIM BLUE BOM quilt! Based entirely on our DENIM & DAISIES fabric collection that arrived August 2024, mixed with some EYELETS as well as creamy background prints, the STONEWASHED SUNSET program was definitely inspired by a favorite pair of comfortable jeans while sitting on the porch watching the sunset colors spread across the sky.
I know it’s a poetic description, but these colors just inspired me to poetry!
The STONEWASHED SUNSET BOM was a mix of primarily blue and cream fabrics from the DENIM & DAISIES collection. The blues focused on the primary denim color with the complimentary tones of the lighter blue and the darker midnight blue from the collection serving as coordinates. The oranges, caramels, and tangerine fabrics from the collection served as accents and pops of color throughout the quilt.
This quilt is reminiscent of a traditional medallion layout so there is some uniformity to the blocks. The blocks are traditional, classic blocks inspired by vintage quilts – as always!
All of the block and border piecing is our straightforward signature SEW & FLIP method, using simple squares and rectangles to make more intricate blocks, with no templates, special rulers or techniques needed. As often is the case with our programs, a bit of applique is involved but if you have done our samplers before you know that the applique is small and only used as an accent.
It really adds something special, don’t you think?
I also worked with AURIFIL THREAD to create a special DENIM & DAISIES THREAD SET – with a perfect set of matching spool colors [7 to be exact] of 50 wt. thread. We have a few exclusive sets leftover – and they are on sale HERE.
Our DENIM & DAISIES BOM was custom quilted by the incredible Diana Johnson. It is absolute perfection if you ask me!
