Just a few updates….

Good morning Monday. Perhaps if I say it several more times, I will make it happen. Good morning Monday. Having a hard time getting it all into gear this morning… so here are a few updates that I can send your way without being completely awake.

Good morning Monday. Still not working.

FABULOUS BLOCK OF THE MONTH OVER AT THE FAT QUARTER SHOP

  DM2011-Block-450

… one of the designer blocks from the center of the quilt.

DM2011-Finish-450

… a little peak of the one of the blocks and a bit of the outer border.

I just wanted to let you know about a great new project brought to you by the talented Miss Kimberly Jolly! A few months ago, I had the opportunity to design the finishing kit for the newest DESIGNER MYSTERY BLOCK OF THE MONTH for the Fat Quarter Shop. Kimberly creates one of these great block of the month projects every year and this time around she is using my upcoming collection, Strawberry Fields as the fabric for the quilt.

The theme… blooms & flowers, a whole garden of them! Lots of different blooms, each one designed by one of your favorite designers and the finishing kit designed by yours truly.

I wish I could show you more of the quilt… it was so much fun to design. I can tell you that its got… flowers [clearly], stems, leaves, sashings, borders and more flowers, big ones and little ones. Even though I can't show you more because it is after all a mystery, I can tell you that it's a good one. So much so, that I might be tempted to sign up for it myself even though I have never done a block of the month in my life!

Here is a quick pic of the quilt, with all of the designer blocks done, sewn up and ready for the quilter to do her magic.

You just might want to add you name to the growing list over there at the FQS and join in all that strawberry fun.

Okay, I'll try not to be so long. I signed up to receive your Blog updates through email, now I won't be checking your blog several times a day to see if you posted! You are in my favorites right there with both my daughter in-laws Blogs. I check all three several times a day to see if there are new pictures of the grandkids, themselves or Fig Tree fabric! In that order. I think that will cut down on your hits!

Tomorrow we will pick another.

By the way, just in case you forgot in all the hub-bub….

I signed up for the FQS Mystery BOM. It is my 3rd year in a row and I’m particularly excited about it this year because the fabric is sooooo yummy! I’m bursting at the “seams” just waiting for my first block to arrive. Being up here in Cold Canada all covered in snow, and seeing those wonderful colours in “Strawberry Fields” makes me wish for June, at my local strawberry field when I will be picking strawberries and then making jam with.

I’ve never done a BOM but after seeing yours I’m thinking I need to give it a try. Thanks!

Happy Valentines Day!! We had a little party last night for my four year old grandson Jonah. Jonah is blind but he requested chocolate cupcakes with pink icing so that’s what he got. I am loving your new line (what I have seen of it). Working with your fabric right now and it just makes me think spring is coming.

These contests are so fun! I think I could use one of these I-TOP toys to add fun buttons to my quilt and sewing projects!

I just signed up for the BOM at FQS. Can’t wait to start it. I always feel cheerful when working with your fabrics.

Love what your doing with the i-top. Who new all the wonderful things you could do with your own button covers. Looks like fun to make as well. Hmmmm …. I think I need one of these.

I signed up for that BOM as soon as I saw your strawberry fields line over at Sherri’s ‘a quilting life’ blog. I’m looking forward to it!

Congrats to Sandi! What a perfect win! 🙂

Thank you, Joanna, from my heart. Thank you, Kat, Erica and Fig Tree fans. It is a perfect win for sure. It feels extra special coming from Joanna.
I hope to be able to share with you what comes of this extra special fabric someday. I too am loving the BOM Mystery Quilt, this also would be the first time I have ever wanted to do one. Honest, I saw it yesterday morning before knowing I had won Buttercup.
I look forward to seeing everyones BOM pictures on Joanna’s site. Extra xoxo to Jonah.

Or maybe we share those pictures on flickr?!!

  15. Linda | 15th Feb 11

Okay, I’m officially tempted by the BOM now – seeing the glimpse of it that you shared. Only problem is, no more room in my sewing room. Looks like it’s time for some re-arranging! I’d love an I-top, too. thanks for the chance to win.

  16. Marianne | 15th Feb 11

Ha! I signed up for the BOM at the FQS ages ago! When I saw that Strawberry Fields, I was smitten! Love at first sight. I cannot wait for it to arrive.
    Congratulations Sandy G!

Hi Joanna, I’m really looking forward to the BOM using your Strawberry Fields. I just viewed the swatch page and I love this new line of yours. I like you gave us a line with more reds and greens. I love retro prints and you did a wonderful job of combining the retro with the Fig Tree style. I know I’ll use these fabrics in a few projects.
