CARROT SPROUTS: RUNNER/QUILT FINISHING DETAILS

If you missed our CARROT SPROUTS introductory post, visit that HERE!

Now – we are back to share more specific details on finishing off your CARROT SPROUTS blocks! You can, of course, just make a few carrots and create a lovely seasonal pillow, but in case you get a little ahead of yourself and can’t stop making more and more carrots [they are a bit addictive], here are some ideas on what to do with them!

TABLE RUNNER

Finished size: app. 21 ½” x 69″

Materials List:

  • (4) ¼ yds. orange prints
  • Variety of green scraps, ⅛ yds or ¼ yds
  • (6) ¼ yd. cream prints
  • ⅜ yd. green print for binding

1. Blocks: using the CARROT SPROUTS Pattern Sheet, choose the number of blocks you want and the direction of the carrots in your placement. We made (28) carrots, (14) blocks.

2. Sashing:

  • Sashing strips [between blocks]
    • (12) 2″ x 8 ½”
  • Long sashing [between carrot rows]
    • Piece to create (1) 2″ x 65 ½”

3. Outer Border: outer border is mix of cream print leftovers, all 2 ½” wide x a variety of sizes for a super scrappy finish. Piece to create:

  • L/R borders
    • (2) 2 ½” x 18″
  • Top/bottom borders
    • (2) 2 ½” x 69 ½”

4. Green binding: cut (5) 2 ¼” binding strips.

QUILT [THROW-SIZE]

Finished size: 50″ x 59 ½”

Materials List:

  • (7) ¼ yds. orange prints
  • Variety of green scraps, ⅛ yds or ¼ yds
  • (12) ¼ yd. cream prints
  • 1/2 yd. green print for binding

1. Blocks: using the CARROT SPROUTS Pattern Sheet, choose the number of blocks you want and the direction of the carrots in your placement. We made (60) carrots, (30) blocks.

2. Sashing:

  • Sashing strips [between blocks]
    • (24) 2″ x 8 ½”
  • Long sashing [between carrot rows]
    • Piece to create (5) 2″ x 46 ½”

3. Outer Border: outer border is mix of cream print leftovers, all 2 ½” wide x a variety of sizes for a super scrappy finish. Piece to create:

  • L/R borders
    • (2) 2 ½” x 56″
  • Top/bottom borders
    • (2) 2 ½” x 50 ½”

4. Green binding: cut (6) 2 ¼” binding strips.

My Fig Tree Friend, Lacey Poirier, went down a rabbit hole! ;-)… literally.
