DENIM & DAISIES: SPECIALTY FABRICS

So with my upcoming DENIM & DAISIES collection, due in stores this August, I have a couple specialty fabrics that I wanted to share about…

……

PATCHWORK “CHEATER” PANEL

This is a 60″ wide by running yardage fabric that has been preprinted for you. Even if you look close, it’s hard to tell that this is a preprinted CHEATER PANEL! I added as many different prints and tones and details to it, hoping that it looks and feels like an actual scrappy nine patch patchwork. It comes in the DENIM and CREAM colorways shown here.

I might be just a bit obsessed!

When we use the term “cheater” in quilting fabric, what it means is that the fabric has been designed to look like a pieced quilt of some kind [giving you the opportunity to “cheat” a bit when making items with it]. I worked really, really hard to make this one look scrappy and mixed up and totally “real” so that we could all make a bunch of goodies out of them, and it would look like we had pieced all of our items. I do think I succeeded, don’t you?

We have made bags, purses, totes, zipper pouches and throws [pics shown below are all available as of next week. The Little Jellies pouch is an adaptation in size of a general bag pattern]. They ALL look like they are pieced so I consider that a win! 😉

……

Shown in the photos below are also the two lap throws sewn with the CHEATER PATCHWORKS, one just normally bound as a simple throw and one with a single scalloped border for a little extra accent that makes it so special. We will have DETAILED TUTORIALS on how to make these closer to when the fabric is available in AUGUST 2024.

PIECED WOVEN PATCHWORK

This another fabulous addition to the DENIM & DAISIES line! It is 45″ wide, like regular quilting cotton, but here’s the kicker on this one… it has been pieced for you into a scrappy, irregular patchwork that is ready for your projects! It uses a bunch of the DENIM & DAISIES WOVEN collection and has been cut, pieced, and topstitched together for you to make so many different things! Again…bags and purses come to mind immediately, but in our house…dog beds and pants are next on the list!

The introductory photo at the top of the blog shows the difference between the preprinted “cheater” fabric and the “pieced patchwork” so you can see the differences and the scale.

I really am thinking that we should ALL squirrel away a little bit of all of these so that we have them once they run out at the stores. I CANNOT wait to make *ALL THE PROJECTS* with them.

Remember that these will not be in stores until August… but we can all dream up some great things until then. If you are wanting to reserve any of these fabrics, let your LQS know right away to see if they are going to be carrying it, or email me at joanna@figtreequilts.com and we will see what we can do to help you out.

Happy Sewing!

    Beautiful fabrics as always. 🙂
I can’t decide which one I love the best.
The cream cheater print with the scallop border is so dreamy.
The blue cheater print looks so cuddly.
And what can I say about the pieced denim patch work… A quilters dream come true!
