MODA Blockheads: Block #31

Welcome to Week #31 of the MODA BLOCKHEADS SEW ALONG!

Hello Blockhead friends. How are you guys all doing on this fabulous blockheads Wednesday?

Today we are back with the sweet and lovely Betsy. Check out the directions for her block, BASKET COLLECTOR, HERE this week.

And here is our version that we changed up a bit…

For our version, we went with the 6″ version and changed the instructions a bit in order to make the center of the basket one single piece. Here is what we did:

Instead of piecing A-D-A for the center, like in the pattern, we cut a larger “F” piece and added that in instead of the A-D-A piece.

  • For the 4″: Cut (1) 2 7/8″ square and cut in 1/2 on the diagonal.
  • For the 6″: Cut (1) 3 7/8″ square and cut in 1/2 on the diagonal.
  • For the 8″: Cut (1) 4 7/8″ square and cut in 1/2 on the diagonal.
  • For the 12″: Cut (1) 6 7/8″ square and cut in 1/2 on the diagonal.

Also since you are cutting a new piece in that spot, you will need 2 less A and 1 less D.

So far for this round we have added just these 2 blocks. Many of you asked about our block for last month, but we decided not to make more hearts since we already had some. I think we will have plenty of blocks to come to fill all of our spots for our layout!

AND A REMINDER OF OUR ROUND I BLOCKS too…

OUR BLOCK TALLY FOR ROUND I: (4) 12″, (3) 8″, (6) 6″ and some little hearts to sprinkle in as well.

… the first round of my blocks. Plus a sweet little pincushion from Carrie’s PIN PALS book, made by my dear friend Cynthia.
… I love to see the block pile grow each week!
