Okay everyone… its go time for our VINTAGE FRIENDSHIP STARS Sew Along…and a highly-anticipated first glimpse of the beautiful quilt we will be working on together! Our official start time is next Monday but this week and weekend will be all about getting ourselves ready.
And yes, the Pattern Sheet is NOW AVAILABLE, too [scroll down for a direct link below]!
In case you missed our previous post detailing fabric requirements and color grouping tips, be sure to take a moment to READ THAT BLOG POST HERE! It will give you all the important hints and tips you will need to choose fabrics for this project. And if I can stress one thing…do not add large prints and florals to either side of the equation…keep your fabrics small, geometric, and monochromatic!

The charm of a perfectly tattered and well-loved quilt…it captures my heart every time! The moment I saw this one, I knew it was meant to be. There was just something about its scrappy, well-worn feel that pulled at my heart strings. And all of those different hues and tones of the same color just drew me in and started me pulling all the denims I could find. And then of course I started thinking about it in different colors too… reds, neutrals, greens, pinks… oh my gosh so many different choices.
Regardless of what color combination you are choosing, I think this will be a favorite cuddle quilt for years to come!

All of our schedules, how we are breaking it down, hints & tips will be shared on Monday and the following 4 Mondays after that.

We will be posting right here on the blog each Monday for each of the (4) weeks of the sew along. Be sure to follow along with us here, as well as in our FACEBOOK GROUP where you will see lots of inspiration and encouragement from our amazing members!

Susan [@thefeltedpear] and I will both be making the DENIM BLUE version to mimic the original vintage quilt. Here is Susan’s pull:
We have several Fig Tree Friends sewing along, as well – take a look at their fabric pulls below. I can’t wait to see their versions come to life over the next few weeks!
I’m still hoping to see someone choose greens! A little birdie told me it might be Megan… or maybe it will be YOU? :-). I also know that a French General faded pink version will be showing up… stay tuned!

It’s PREP TIME! Choose and/or finalize your color palette. Again, be sure to check out our PREVIOUS BLOG POST for lots of hints and guidelines. Now that you see the quilt, it might help you narrow down some of your choices. I think you will quickly see how important it is that your fabrics don’t have other colors in them or large or widely spaced motifs.
I know we have a few eager quilters out there who want to get started cutting. As you cut, I recommend keeping fabrics together in little stacks so that you know what you are working with as you assemble each section of the quilt in the next 4 weeks.
This quilt has simple piecing and a basic layout so no need to stress about any of it. Not a single point to match! The only thing you will have to think about here is how to organize yourself as you work.
I feel like the true charm of this project is in the scrappy variety of fabrics more than anything else.

We were able to make up a few more starter bundles in varying color groupings if you are still working on securing fabric – check the FEATURED PAGE IN THE SHOP– while supply lasts!

See you Monday [April 7th] for our first week’s official start!
Happy Prepping,
