MODA Blockheads: Block 39 & Block 40

Welcome to Week #40 of the MODA BLOCKHEADS SEW ALONG!

Although I posted on Instagram last week, I never managed to add my info here on the blog for Week #39 so this week, we are doing a TWOFER!

Last week’s creative block was brought to you by the fabulous Robin Pickens. Her MAD ABOUT PLAID block is so much fun and so versatile! Link HERE and download the pattern directions for your project.

This is our version of Robin’s block…. we went for the 8″ version for this one… using a controlled palette of (2) strong reds, a softer red with lots more white in it so that it would stand out against the strong ones and a cream print.

We love how the plaid comes out in it.. almost like a basketweave!

BLOCK #40: STRINGS

Up next this week is Janet Clare and her STRINGS block. CLICK HERE to download her awesome string pieced beauty of a block! So many different things you can do with this one.

But it was a bit whimsical for our more traditional red and cream sampler that we are going for so we decided to add in a traditional Log Cabin pattern instead. We won’t really have much in the way of instructions or variations for this one but come on back on Friday and we will add in a bit more info on how we did ours. For those of you who are following along with our sizes and colors the measurements and want to be ready, we chose the 6″block and we will only have measurement info on this size block.

… log cabins are just one of those blocks that look fantastic no matter how you make them and what you put in them, don’t you think?
