MODA Blockheads: Blocks #52 & #53

Welcome to Week #53 of the MODA BLOCKHEADS 3 SEW ALONG. It feels like I go in groups of 2 these days with everything else we have going on around here [Winter Solstice Sew Along, Stitchery Sampler Sew Along, Embroidery Sew Along, etc. etc]. I hope you are outpacing me or at least ready to work on these next two blocks along with me. We are SO VERY CLOSE to the end of this project… only 3 more after this one!

THIS MONTH’S BLOCK #53: BEAR CUBS AROUND THE CAMP FIRE

It’s Robin’s day today and this block has such a great feel and such a great name! I love it Robin! For our block, it was a perfect chance to do a little fussy-cut floral in the middle, sashed by a lighter red and a few stronger reds in the bearpaws.

Here is the PDF DOWNLOAD, CLICK HERE on Robin’s blog to get the block and read her inspirations. Go grab yours!

We chose a 12″ size for our version of this one. It was a great one to feature larger we felt.

CATCHING UP

And since we missed posting for last week, and many of you have checked in to see what we did, HERE IS THE INFO on what we did for last week’s post, Block #52, Stacy’s block, INTERSECTION. Go HERE for this one!

We did this one as a 6″ version with a light red and a dark red along with a little scrap of a favorite cream dot on the inside and a simple tone on tone cream for the outer background.

For those of you who were still looking for the layout we will be doing here it is here below. Photos of what we have done so far below and more photos coming later with better light!

Beautiful!!! I’m following along and doing exactly your colors….a little bit behind but doing all the new ones each week and then going back and trying to do one a day of the ones I’m behind on. Question: I noticed on the layout you posted (and in the photo) that you had checkerboard squares/blocks as filler…..I don’t remember those at all. Is there a particular blog post you mentioned those so I can go back and check? What sizes would these be?

Gosh its back there somewhere! We made 4 of them and they match the Posies blocks that we did in size 6″. Yes the squares are all cut at 2″ and they are 4 x 4 layout. Enjoy!

Oops…now I see in the layout you said 2×2. I’ll go scrolling back thru.
