STRAWBERRIES & RHUBARB: COORDINATING SOLIDS

I have received a huge amount of questions about the matching solids to this collection recently so the moment I had a few minutes to spare, I thought I would share those colors with you…

As you might or might not know, I don’t design fabric to match certain existing colors. Sometimes it works out that way and sometimes it doesn’t. I try to anchor a collection with a few Fig Tree standbys but usually the tones are a bit different or there are some that come from a completely different palette in my head and that don’t have good coordinating solids…

Also something to note [I have mentioned this many times before but I figure its okay to repeat myself for all of you who are new here]… if you are ever looking for a coordinating solid to one of my Fig Tree collections, they will ALWAYS be Bella Solids from MODA. I get a lot of questions about Kona solids or other solids from other companies. I don’t use any of those and have no info. So sorry!

I only use Bella Solids and if I have a match, then it will be a Bella.

In the case of this collection, STRAWBERRIES & RHUBARB, there are a few great  Bella classics that are the basis of this collection:

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is strawrhubarb-solids-1.jpg
  • CORAL: A spot on match to the coral in this group
  • PERSIMMON: A very close match to the red in this group
  • CANTALOUPE: A spot on match to the pink in this group
  • IVORY: The exact background color of this group.

Other colors that are similar but not quite exactly the same:

  • LIGHT LIME: A good, close match to the main light green accent color
  • PISTACHIO: A tiny bit cooler than the main green in this collection but definitely the closest one in the bella collection

Other colors that don’t really have a great match, so I will give you the closest there is:

  • SAND: Sand is a bit more tan, but again… the closest match in tone and feel to our light grey in this group.
  • OATMEAL: The closest bella to our taupe in this collection although fair warning… it is a bit lighter than the tone I used in the collection. I also really like WEATHERED TEAK with this group but it is definitely a bit darker. So we are right in between these two. When we made our bundles, we used OATMEAL.

If you are interested in the above mentioned bundle of solids, it looks like many of the fabrics are back ordered until laster in August so we wouldn’t be able to make bundles until then. If timing is not an issue, email me and I will let you know what we can do!

Hope that helps to clear up most of the questions. Next up will be PUMPKINS & BLOSSOMS COORDINATING SOLIDS.

Hi Cindy- We were hoping to be able to make more, but unfortunately that won’t be the case as we are unable to get some of the fabrics. No harm in asking though!

Beautiful colors! Is the light lime the darker green?

    • joanna@figtreequilts.com | 11th Aug 21

Nope, the light lime is the lighter green.

What is the color used in the midnight version of pumpkins & blossoms? Thank you so much!

Pumpkins & Blossoms is a fabric collection so it doesn’t have a version. The darkest color in Pumpkins & Blossoms is similar to “Charcoal Etchings” Bella by MODA.
Are you thinking of another pattern possibly?

Unfortunately we are sold out and will not be able to make more. Thanks for reaching out.
