Orange Blossoms Week #3

Hello Quilty Friends!

If you have kept up with our ORANGE BLOSSOMS SEW ALONG, then you have (13) orange blocks and (12) LEAF BLOCKS from the last two weeks. SO MANY of you are sewing along in our FACEBOOK GROUP and I am loving seeing this quilt come together. It is a quick and charming project that I KNOW we will all be enjoying this summer.

This morning, those of you who purchased the kit, have been sent your FINAL PATTERN EMAIL a few minutes ago so it should be arriving in your inbox soon.

For those of you have jumped in with us since then, the WEEK #3 PATTERN will be available tomorrow IN THE SHOP before noon for everyone else.

For those of you who are working on your oranges: We have seen a few people leave out the center “dimple” in their oranges for a more simple orange and we think the outcome has been lovely as well. Personally, I prefer that little addition as it gives the fruit a little bit more shape but the plain oranges we have seen have been just as lovely so I thought I would share that as an option for others of you who might be thinking about it.

For those of you working on your leaves…don’t stress too much about which way your leaves are facing. I know that the instructions call for a certain number of each kind but I have a small confession… we made all of our LEAF BLOCKS in one direction due to a little miscommunication in the office. And guess what? I still love them as much and am not going to rip them apart and start over. So if you find that you have made them all in one direction or you are worried about your placement… don’t be! It will still be wonderful.

If you are working on your cream selection… the scrappier, the better. Do not be afraid of adding in your cream scraps or cream favorites from your stash into the backgrounds of these. You cannot go wrong with soft creams especially if they have hints of tan, orange or green in them!

Can’t wait to show everyone the final layout and quilt!!

  • Each week for 3 weeks, we will release a portion of the project. Last week we continued with Week #2: THE ORANGE BLOCK and are finishing this week with BLOCK #3. If you keep up during the three weeks, you will have a finished orange themed summer patchwork once you are done. It will be app. 63″ square.
  • Each week we will post here on TUESDAY with some pics of the next section and any other info you might need or want for that week.
  • We will be working along with the Sew Along in our FACEBOOK GROUP, FIG TREE QUILTS FRIENDS. People will share their progress, pics of their cutting and piecing, etc. Its a great place to be a community! But don’t worry if you are not on Facebook, that’s okay, social media is not for everyone so don’t feel bad. It is just a fun place for us to cheer each other on and see how everyone is progressing. You will be able to get your info here and the patterns in the shop each week.
  • Each Tuesday [the day after the release], the pattern for that week’s blocks will become available for purchase in our shop. Anyone can participate at that point.
  • The patterns will be available for purchase throughout April and May.
  • We will be using the hashtag #orangeblossomsquilt if you want to follow along.

  • Your “entrance” to this 3 week sew along comes with the kit. Welcome! You will be getting an email with the pattern sometime before noon today… assuming the internet cooperates and your system likes ours! If you have ever opted out of our weekly email newsletter… you will need to opt back in because that is how the email will be sent to you.
  • You will get a similar email next Monday and the Monday after that for all 3 installments of the pattern.
  • Your patterns will be free of charge… a perk of purchasing the kit!

  • Welcome to you as well, we are so very glad you are joining us! Each Tuesday, the day after those who purchased the kit have received their pattern via email, the pattern for that week will become available in our FIG TREE SHOP HERE for purchase. THE FIRST PATTERN IS NOW AVAILABLE.
  • The pattern will be on our FEATURED PAGE. If for whatever reason you are unable to locate it, simply search in the search bar for Orange Blossoms and it will come up for you.
  • You will need to purchase the pattern parts, each week for 3 weeks, each Tuesday, in order to complete the quilt.
  • The pattern will only come in a downloadable PDF version. So sorry that we will not be able to offer paper patterns of this project at this time.

Can’t wait to start seeing finished quilts soon!
