Welcome Back Friends!
Last week we celebrated the true Winter Solstice. The moon was a brilliant quarter moon, and the Christmas Star of 2020 shown brightly in the Southwest sky. The longest day of the year has come and gone with the promise of longer days, and the changing of the seasons.
This week’s blocks, Peppermint Star and Snowflake Dance use pinwheels to give the effect of stars twinkling in the night sky.
Don’t let Snowflake Dance intimidate you with all the quarter triangles! A tip is to lay out your block on a design board before beginning to sew to make sure each of your pinwheels is spinning in the correct direction. Go slowly, cut accurately, press rather than iron, measure each “unit” and trim if necessary to 2 1/2″ square and you will be set for success.
We can’t wait to see you next week for two new blocks!

You will be making (2) of each block throughout the Sew Along. Cutting instructions account for both blocks each time.
Each block will be 8″ x 8″ finished/ 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ unfinished.

… love the 4 little twinkling stars together.

And all your blocks so far…

Could not find your introductory blurb about this project. Haven’t been receiving emails or blogs from you so didn’t know about this project. If you could post the introductory info again on your blog, I’d appreciate (Materials, etc.). Thanks!

All the intro info is already here. Just scroll back to the first Winter Solstice blog post. Thanks!

Hi, I am writing because I love your Winter Solstice and do you sell the blue fabric?
Another question. Do you have all the printing in just one place? My computer and printer are about 70 yrs old. (same as me) It is hard to figure out things on Instagram, Blogs, etc. My women’s club ladies are all about the same age. We decided that we won’t be here to many more years, and we need to work faster, work simply, and laugh more. Please respond.

Unfortunately our kits for Winter Solstice have now sold out, along with the fabric. Since it is a free Sew Along, you have to go to the various places on the blog to get all the into, as it isn’t all in one spot. Happy New Year,
