… we love how these actually look like geese flying!

THE FLYING GEESE BLOCK

This week Sophie and I picked the Fly Stitch to represent the flying geese blocks. The Fly Stitch is quick, easy, and the points really give the illusion of a flying geese block.

Sophie and I started by just marking a dot for each of the three points of the stitch. We found that this was enough to guide us with spacing and was faster and more accurate than drawing the full “V”.

After trying a few test stitches out, we found that we liked the look of four threads of floss for our stitches.

Sophie and I really enjoyed the stitch this week..so much so that Sophie commandeered my sampler and finished my block while I checked on supper!

She filmed a small tutorial of her doing the fly stitch which I will post in our Fig Tree Friends Facebook Group.

We are having so much fun doing this each week!

…this is such a wonderful compliment to our quilt sampler!
