A WINTER WALK IN THE WOODS

EDIT: WINTER WALK PATTERN WILL BE AVAILABLE BEGINNING OF JAN 2024

Our WINTER WALK IN THE WOODS SEW ALONG was such a hit that we have now turned it into a pattern. The full pattern will be avaialble in January 2024.

Unfortunately that means that the free directions are no longer available here on the blog. However, you can still read through all 6 weeks of the official original SEW ALONG to see all of our hints tips and process shots.

I hope that everyone is enjoying these holiday weeks leading up to Christmas and that you are all able to have a little time to breathe and take in the sights and sounds of winter… wherever that may be and whatever that might look like in your part of the country or world!

I wanted to give you guys a quick update on our fabric info for the upcoming A WINTER WALK IN THE WOODS SEW ALONG. The SEW ALONG will start on December 28th with a “gather your supplies and prepare yourself” week so that everyone can get themselves together after the holidays.

Susan’s idea behind this winter sew along is to give us all something wintery and fun to work on as we wrap up the Christmas season but still have a long stretch of winter wonder ahead of us.

Our full kits are now officially sold out and we will not be able to make any more. If you are looking for the exact fabrics we had offered… we used MODA CHAMBRAY in Royal, MODA THATCHED in Scarlet and MODA CROSSWEAVE in Graphite for our three choices. Susan will be working in the blue colorway.

However we have been able to make up IVORY STARTER KITS which will include all the cream prints you will need for the blocks, a small cream print for the binding as well as the ivory solid needed for the blocks as well.

All you will need to find is 5 yards of your background fabric.

For those of you who would like to use your stash or use different fabrics, here are the materials.

MATERIALS LIST

(8) 1/3 yds of a variety of cream and ivory prints for the blocks

1 ¼ yd. ivory solid for the blocks and border blocks

5 yds. for the background [we recommend a solid, a woven, or solid feeling fabric with a small textured print]

2/3 yds. small cream print for the binding

We will offer backing options in January once we have started the Sew Along!

We will be using the hashtag #winterwalkinthewoodsquilt if you want to follow along on IG or in our Facebook Group. See you there!

You know, I am just seeing this post today 12/21 after seeing mention of it on Susan’s IG about the Sew Along. I almost knew I was on Fig Tree’s blog list for emails when a new post came out, but I’m just seeing this and you say that all kits are gone! Oh mercy! Now what. Waaaa…

    • joanna@figtreequilts.com | 21st Dec 21

The kits were available a few weeks ago… so sorry they are sold out now. The sew along will start with a “gather your materials” week next week so hopefully you can find all of your fabrics and sew with us!

I am excited for this. I was planing on making a quilt for a friend. It’s a surprise and I asked her husband what her favorite color was and he said hunter green. So I decided to use that as my solid color, fingers crossed that it will look nice . I also purchased and received the ivory starter kit.

    • joanna@figtreequilts.com | 26th Dec 21

I think that would be absolutely perfect for this quilt!

I missed buying the kit for this project. I am piecing the fabrics together. What is the ivory solid fabric used for the blocks and border blocks?

  19. Jan Williams | 31st Dec 21

I am unable to download the organization oieces. It says click “Here” (with “here” in red) and when I do so, nothing happens. I have tried many times. I am able to find the fabric requirements, however
