Embroidery Sampler: Block #12

Welcome back to our weekly Embroidery block to accompany our Stitchery Sampler Sew Along. The easiest way to do that is to search the word “embroidery” in our search box.

THE STITCH BLOCK

I can not believe we are on our 12th Week of the Embroidery Stitchery Sampler!  Sophie and I have had such fun learning new stitches each week and are already planning our next projects.

For Week 12, we chose to represent the Stitches block with the Feather Stitch.  Worked in a line with four strands of floss, this stitch is a series of stitches made in a similar way as the Fly Stitch in Week 8.  The stitch was quick to stitch up and Sophie declared it her favorite stitch yet!  Be sure to use a constant tension (not too loose and not too tight!) for best results.

Sophie and I also spent some time talking about how we want to finish up our samplers and have each opted for different methods.

Sophie decided to finish up her sampler simply by adding an “x” in the corner of each stitching box using four strands of floss.  She has opted not to embroider a border and was looking online at white frames to showcase her design.  She plans to gift her finished sampler to a special friend.

I opted to make all of my sashing “x” stitches a uniform green color similar to the quilt version of Stitchery Sampler.  I experimented with a few stitches on my practice cloth, and believe I have found the perfect stitch for the border.  Stay tuned to see what it is!

Next week we will be finishing off our samplers, I will be adding a border to mine and we will be talking about framing options.

Here is a good video for this stitch:
